Please Move Along. Nothing to See Here.

Well, I've achieved my poker goals for December so far. This is partly because I missed three days due to my PC being upgraded. (Reinstalling all of the poker applications, restoring the PT database, and creating the PAHUD cache takes fucking ages.) Mainly though I've been ill since the start of the month so I've played very little poker.

Hi Mike,

I have a challenge for you and I'd be really interested in the results if you're able to try it...

I know you are usually a three screens multi-tabling beast machine, so my challenge is this: how long can you stand to play on only one table of your usual stakes?

I dare you to play at least five hours non-stop on only one table, go on, I dare you, I double dare you!!!

You are allowed to experiment with a different style of play than normal, and if the table seems bad you can switch, but just by looking in the lobby. Only one table allowed on screen(s) at any one time.

Also, I know a lot of people pester you about moving up, probably because they want you to move out of their favourite limit. The reason why I'm mentioning it again is because actually there is not much difference between a winning game at the NL200 and the NL400. Your roll can presumably handle a little more variance and you would be able to reduce your hours.

You know all this too of course but we are creatures of habit, perhaps you need a few prods to shift from your highly successful waters, even given the possible benefits.

Gl mate.

Strange request - you are asking Mike to cut down his hourly rate by 15/16 (albeit he should win more at just one table, granted)
Also, 2/4 is a LOT different from 1/2 for many reasons......
Lol - this sounds like its from an opponent who wants you out of the way Mike!!

On Full TIlt, an average NL 1/2 game is A LOT diffrent than a NL 2/4 game.

Yes, sometimes you can find some soft tables at NL 2/4, but in general, the regulars are much better at 2/4.The regulars almost ALL suck at 1/2. (except few players... ;) )

Ray, jphil,

I respect both your opinions and games from what I've read on 2+2, but I think we simply have different usages for the same terms. I'd say there were 'A LOT' of differences between 1/2 and 25/50.

Between 1/2 and 2/4 though there is not much difference in a winning game (strategy). This is pretty clear when phrased like this: for you guys to win there would you have to change your whole approach to the game, or simply make some adjustments?

I couldn't respond to your question at the table, because I have elected to not have the ability to chat.

I thought you had a set already when the turn fell (rather than the straight) so I wouldn't have called more than a min raise on the river.

Ivanei,

IMHO that turn doesn't improve your hand and if ever there was a case for a "pot-control/please improve me check" this is it. When Narena checked I'd have checked behind.

On the river though your hand has improved considerably and I think there is definitely scope to value raise - IMHO you need to try and size that raise so that his calling range will include strong straights. If you limit his calling range to FH+ then you have trouble since non-pair houses are unlikely and you trail to 55 and 33 but beat 22.
