North Caroline. Take Your Shirt Off!

This one's for North Carolina! C'mon and raise up
Take your shirt off, twist it 'round yo' hand
Spin it like a helicopter
North Carolina! C'mon and raise up
This one's for you, uh-huh, this one's for who?
Us, us, us

Having moved to the US from England in 2000, I now live in Greensboro, NC.

Anyone reading this blog since the beginning may remember that I bought a very nice (and expensive!) custom-made poker table last July. (Photos on July/August archive.) Anyway, it has had very little use so far other than teaching my 4-year old daughter, Narena, how to play!

So, I've spoken with Damn Ringer from the Cardrunners forum (VT Hokie Poker on Full Tilt) who lives in Charlotte, NC about arranging a live game and a regular meet-up for any poker players from around this area.

Ideally I'd like to get a few players together for a social time; playing poker and drinking, and hopefully it will also be an opportunity for us to improve our game through discussing poker, and to help us maintain an interest in playing.

If anyone reading this lives nearby and is interested, then please either e-mail me, leave a comment here, or PM me on 2+2 or Cardrunners.

well I'm about 7 hours away but if you were to ever hold some kind of annual event maybe me and a few others of us from the midwest might be able to plan a little trip... at the very least I'll be sure to let you know if I'm planning on passing through that area

An annual event could definitely work. I have loads of room here at my house, and there's plenty of other stuff to do too.

Definitely let me know if you're passing through too.

I knew the guy had a Queen in the handed you posted, but I was just too fuming to think straight!

I sat out of all my tables for 30 minutes after to cool down.

I finished the session up nearly $2k, so it worked out OK in the end! :)

About the 97% favourite hand. Is your standard cbet in 3bet pots always so small, around 50% here???

Or is it to trap the fish? Just wondering if its better to cbet smaller at FR.

Thanks.
MrSpeed

Smart Money said...

MrSpeed.

No. The small cbet size here was completely opponent and situation dependent. I had raised him the previous hand pre-flop so I hoped he'd question my strength on this hand.

Soemtimes, I would check here, sometimes I would bet 2/3pot-pot, and sometimes just a small bet.

I've just started to host home games myself (UK) and I was quite happy with my poker set-up until I saw yours.

LOL - mine looks like it's made out of lego or something now. Anyway, hope you get some games sorted.

Any chance of a link mate?

Cheers.

Link is up!

mike
- could you take a look at my blog?
please ignore the stakes, he is a regular at .50 1 and knows i can play.

We have played 3k hands together, my image to him is v tag, so hence i check call flop.

i dont think he saw the other player in the pot.

we have three prevous hands where he overbet jams the turn, the two he has been called and shown the nuts, mostly shoving 3x the pot.

the fourth time he tried it was on me (for 3x the pot), and i folded.

Could you confirm what you would do here?

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2351391

obviously the strength of my kicker is disguised, but he's limped with AK AQ in the past from MP also.

cheers

Against some opponents at higher stakes I'm sure I may be able to find a fold.

If he's good then he's probably ahead, figuring you have to call with any Ace. I'd call out of curiosity though!

Hi mate, i've read your blog for ages now and you're a great player. I've improved my game a fair bit just through reading your posts.

Me and some mate have got our own blog up and running that's proving to be fairly popular.

Any chance you'd link us up, would be much appreciated if you do.

Keep showing us the way mate.
