Set-Up

Several people have asked me recently for a photo of my set-up, but I've been a bit lazy at getting around to it.

I have recently upgraded to:

3 x 30" Dells
Quad processors (2.40 Ghz)
2.00 GB of RAM
150 GB HD
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT Graphics Card
NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT/GTO Graphics Card

The Quad processors seem to reduce the lag that you often see when using Full Tilt with PAHUD.

I set PAHUD to use CPU 2 and 3, and Full Tilt to use CPU 0 and 1. (Task Manager --> Right Click Image Name --> Set Affinity...)

The 3 x 30" may seem like overkill (as you could easily use just 2 x 30" and play 9 tables on each quite comfortably) but I like the larger table sizes as there is plenty of room for the PAHUD stats.

There is definitely an advantage to using a tiled display rather than an over-lapping cascading set-up, as it allows you to keep an eye on everyone else actions, and therefore pick-up on vital reads/tells.

At a guess, the whole set-up would probably cost around $6k if purchased from scratch- probably closer to ₤6k(?) if purchased in the UK.

Muppet of the Year 2007: Narena

I can only remember mis-reading the board once before on the river while multi-tabling. In that previous hand I held the 2nd nuts (JJ on a Jh 3h X 3 Yh board) and just called the villain's rivered flush bet because I had missed the board pairing on the turn!

Last night's hand was just as bad- I just didn't see that I had 2 clubs and thought my call was with TPTK! I ended up leaving $100 on the table- what a fucking muppet!

Great setup Mike, I feel like Im playing on a Commodore 64 compared to what you have!

Seeing you lots at the tables in your early hours and I was wondering what your daily schedule looks like when you are constantly up at 4am. Do you have set schedules, are you fluid.....how exactly do you enjoy the freedom of time that poker can give whilst not allowing every waking hour to be potentially spent at the tables?

My schedule isn't yet as I'd like it to be- simply because I find it hard to get to sleep as soon as I finish playing because my mind is so active still!

Ideally I'd like to sleep from 4am - midday, and then make the most of the afternoon evening doing other stuff. Too often though I'm up until anywhere between 8am and noon.

Hey smart,

Wondered if you had any more tips on reducing the Full Tilt Lag?

I've bought a new computer just recently and made sure to have the same specs as you with 3meg RAM.

I've set the affinity as you said but the Full Tilt windows seem to keep popping up and lagging.

I run it a Dell off vista using an ATI Radeon HD 2600XT video card.

Any thoughts or tips would be appreciated.
